Ingredients

  • 20 ounces canned sliced pineapple
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium teriyaki sauce
  • 2 pounds ground turkey (7% fat)
  • 1 teaspoon peeled and minced ginger root
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 8 whole-wheat hamburger rolls
  • 8 slices sliced Cheddar cheese

Preparation

  1. Drain the pineapple; reserving half of the juice.
  2. Stir together the teriyaki sauce and reserved pineapple juice in a small bowl.
  3. Mix together the turkey, ginger, panko breadcrumbs and 1/2 of the teriyaki mixture.
  4. Shape into patties.
  5. Grill patties, brushing with remaining teriyaki mixture, until brown on both sides and cooked through.
  6. Place pineapple slices on grill and cook until lightly golden brown.
  7. Serve burgers on buns with cheese and pineapple.
