  • 2 cups chopped celery
  • 1 pound beef stew meat
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint
  • 1 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 3 cups water


  1. Heat olive oil in pan. Brown the onions, garlic and beef.
  2. Add tumeric, salt and pepper and cook on high heat for 5 minutes until meat is nice and brown.
  3. Add tomato paste, parsley, and mint.
  4. Add lemon juice, water, and celery.
  5. Bring to a boil, cover and cook on medium heat for one hour, or until beef is tender.
  6. Stir occasionally and add more water if needed.
