  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 Tablespoon white wine
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted


  1. Place the green beans in enough boiling water to cover them in a saucepan on medium-high heat. Cook 7 to 8 minutes, or until tender-crisp. Drain. Remove the beans.
  2. Melt the butter in the same saucepan on low heat.
  3. Add the wine, vanilla, onion powder, salt and pepper. Cook and stir 1 minute.
  4. Add the green beans, then toss to coat well.
  5. Sprinkle with almonds.
