  • 4 portobello mushrooms, mushroom caps
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh garlic, minced
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 spray cooking spray
  • 4 hamburger rolls
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced
  • 4 leaves green lettuce


  1. Marinate the mushroom caps in the oil, vinegar, basil, oregano, garlic, salt and pepper for 15 minutes.
  2. Treat grill rack with cooking spray then preheat grill at medium-high.
  3. Grill mushroom caps for 5 to 8 minutes on both sides and baste with marinade.
  4. When mushrooms are almost done, top with cheese and let melt
  5. Split buns and place cut-side down on grill. Toast for about 1 minute, watching closely.
  6. Place the lettuce, tomato and onion slices on the open buns, and then mushroom caps.
