  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered (confectioner's) sugar


  1. Beat the butter, granulated sugar, salt, egg, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy.
  2. Gradually beat in the flour on low speed until well mixed.
  3. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350 °F.
  5. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls.
  6. Place the balls on ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Dip a fork in the powdered sugar. Gently flatten the cookies with the sugared fork.
  8. Bake 12 minutes or until lightly browned around edges.
  9. Cool on baking sheets for 1 minute.
  10. Remove to wire racks, and allow to cool completely.
